Mr. Blue Sky

The color palette we’re talking about here is pretty obvious: all shades of grey, browns, dark dark colors, and the occasional bright accent. It’s fairly obvious… a winter scape, a cloudy sky perhaps from all of the smokey fires populating what’s left of our beloved Earth, sometimes orange as the distant sun sets behind the desolation of humanity. Or, a summer, barren dessert similar to what I imagine Burning Man must be like when everyone packs it in to go home.

I was knitting at Regina’s the other day, using up yarn from another project that included the happiest, most delightful sky blue heathered with the slightest yellow and white you can hardly see it. In discussing my Style Question, I pointed out that this particular blue would not exactly be included in this apocalypse (my apocalypse?), since there would be no blue sky. Ice blue? Yes. Steel blue? Probably. Navy blue? Of course (dark dark navy blue, we’re talking). But perfect-as-the-day-is-long, cloudless and cerulean blue? Not so much.

  1. Eggcellent song for the apocalypse. All ELO all the time.

  2. Right!?!?! I love this song and wish that Volkswagon didn’t co-opt it. But, I suppose that in the Post-Apocalypse, we’ll all be driving Jettas.
